The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is the home of the Texas Center for Inquiry. The institute provides educators with in-depth experiences in science inquiry through institutes, workshops, forums and follow-up coaching. The Center’s mission is to help curriculum specialist, teacher leaders and educators incorporate science inquiry into their curricula in ways consistent with the Next Generation Science Standards and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. The 21st Century Learning Academy will provide educators with in-depth experiences on integrating STEM education into their classroom. The pedagogy, practices and implementation strategies taught will enhance professional practice and help build educators’ understanding of how STEM based instruction can benefit student learning. Participants will lead teams of STEM Camp for Kids students through the engineering design process while they create specific projects.

Participants will use the engineering design process to create a project that meets a need, solves a problem or create a product. During the three-day camp, teams of students will work with 21st Century Learning Academy educators to complete their project. STEM content and practice will be modeled and each team will use the engineering design process as a template for their work.
